Why Parents Should Encourage Travel for Life Lessons | Ocibul Oc
In this article, we explore why parents should encourage travel. Benefits of Travel and how it teaches valuable life lessons.
Hello Everyone!
Namaskar / Assalamu Walaikum, I’m Ocibul Oc.
As a student, I understand the challenges every student faces.
We all know, it’s a competitive world. Parents often debate the importance of academics versus life experiences. While good grades and classroom learning are necessary. However, the lessons learned through travel are irreplaceable.
Traveling helps us to see the world in a new perspective. It teaches skills that can’t be learned in school. Helping children to grow in ways which textbooks can’t. That’s Why Parents Should Encourage Travel for Valuable Life Lessons.
The Importance of Travel in Life – Benefits of travel
How Travel Teaches Beyond the Classroom
The Power of Experimental Learning
In school, students are primarily taught through theoretical methods. For instance, in maths class you learn that (a+b)² = a²+2ab+b² .
But life doesn’t follow any formula; it’s unpredictable, raw, and full of surprises.
In contrast, travel is a living, breathing textbook. It offers an opportunity to learn by doing, seeing, and experiencing.
Especially, when you travel with parents, travel helps students gain a deeper understanding of environmental issues. Also, cultural sensitivities, and the ability to adapt to different environments.
Improving Problem Solving Skills
Traveling is not an easy task.
You need to face many challenges when traveling. Such as missed flights, language barriers, or unfamiliar customs. For these situations, you need quick thinking and creative solutions. By overcoming these problems, you not only build confidence, but you also learn to handle critical life lessons.
Travel as a Practical Education Tool
‘Travel makes learning exciting and relatable.’
When you plan to visit a place, the excitement is at its peak to learn about its geography, history, and culture.
‘We remember best what we see.’
When we experience firsthand it brings subjects like geography, history, and science to life. These real-world experiences foster creativity, curiosity, and adaptability. These offer valuable life lessons.

Balancing Academics and Travel
As a student I can understand the situation of every student. Travelling isn’t just about making studies fun—it’s a fantastic way to learn more about yourself.
“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” – Saint Augustine
Travelling the world allows us to know more pages of this incredible book called life. It’s not just an escape from academics but a chance to explore, learn, and grow.
Living abroad has been proven to foster a stronger and healthier sense of self. Often, travel experiences allow you to find answers to the age-old question: Who are you? Why should we live?
Balancing academics and traveling isn’t easy. So, it’s best to plan your trips during academic breaks.
Inspiring Stories of Families Who Chose Travel
Here I am sharing my experiences. I have visited many places with my parents, my teachers, and even on my own. One of the most memorable trips was to Manas National Park as an educational picnic.
Our picnic was a wonderful experience. We saw a one-horned rhino, elephants, deer, and many other animals. After that, I can usually visualize these animals.
People who haven’t seen these animals might find it hard to imagine. Travel helps us experience and truly appreciate such amazing moments.
These trips also taught me important life lessons.
